POLAR LIKE WEATHER AFFECTS THE WEEKLY MARKET

Cold, miserable week here at Market Drayton - but locals and more intrepid explorers who braved the sub artic conditions were certainly well rewarded with clean cattle and young bulls selling on a blistering trade :- 243p for heifers, 230p for bulls and 225p for steers.

Numbers affected all round :- 5 Dairy Cattle, 76 Store Cattle, 1,172 Prime Hoggets (SQQ average returned at 191p), 369 Butchers Ewes (overall average £70.37), 211 Calves (sold by our guest auctioneer Richard Goodwin) plus 26 Weanlings.

Monday 19th January was a Green Market :- 224 Dairies section average 99.46p (£633.62), 75 Sucklers average 137.34p (£909.80), 21 Bulls average 132.22p (£1,008.55) and 34 Clean Cattle 142.56p.  Remember Monday 26th January is a RED Market.
