The dispersal sale of the entire milking portion of the all year calving Lynhall herd of Holstein Friesians for J.W. Jones & Sons of Ellesmere, Shropshire, attracted a packed ringside of buyers to market Drayton Market where they were auctioned by Gwilym Richards and Barbers.

Top price was 2,200gns for a heifer sired by Cervi Maxigoat which had recorded 9,436kgs in her first lactation and still giving 33kgs when sold. She was due to calve again in May to Relough Clincher. Her Picston Shottle mother had peaked at 12,534kgs. The buyers were J.F. & A.A. Owen of Overton-on-Dee, Wrexham.

The same buyers paid 2,150gns for another heifer which had calved in August of last year and due again this August to ABS Outback. The Lars Acres Shot Trigger daughter was giving 38kgs at the time of sale and was off a 13,837kgs Askew Reece cow.

Cows sold to a top price of 2,050gns for a 2nd calver which was also purchased by Messrs Owen. The Bomaz Ingenious sired daughter had calved in August last year and was due in July this year to ABS Outback. She had recorded 8,096kgs with her first calf and was giving 34kgs when sold. Her Picston Shottle mother had peaked at 10,658kgs. Third calvers sold to 1,900gns.

At the same sale, P.A. & H.M. Wilson & Son of Fradswell, Stafford sold the entire youngstock portion of their Redwell herd of Holstein Friesians. Served heifers for May calving sold to 1,120gns, bulling heifers to 820gns, yearlings to 680ns and heifer calves to 500gns.
